It's almost time for PorcFest!

We can't wait to see all of our friends and clients in a few days! Make sure to stop by the Your Home by Porcupine Real Estate tent on the field to say hi to Mark, Constance, Diane, Franz, and Michael. We'll also be busy hosting panels and talks, so check out our schedule below. 

Monday, June 21st

6 pm - Games. Stop in to use the tables for a fun game you bring. Invite a few friends. Porcupine Real Estate agents might stop by to play a game with you and answer your real estate questions.

 

Tuesday, June 22nd

11 am - Meet the Regions. Come find out what’s happening in each region of New Hampshire. Learn your option of jobs, housing, and more.

12 pm - Open House Lunch. Stop into the Your Home Hub to ask questions of the agent(s) on duty and use a table for your lunch.

1 pm - Intro to the Upper Valley Region. Come find out what’s happening in the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire! Learn from locals about options for jobs, housing, and more.

2 pm - Intro to the North Country of NH. Come find out what’s happening in the North Country region of New Hampshire! Learn from locals about options for jobs, housing, education, and more.

3 pm - Intro to the Merrimack Valley. Come find out what’s happening in the Merrimack Valley region of New Hampshire! Learn from locals about options for jobs, housing, education, activism, and more.

4 pm - Intro to the Seacoast Region & Intro to the Lakes Region. Come find out what’s happening in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire! Learn from locals about options for jobs, housing, education, activism, and more.

5 pm - RV Living. House market got you down? Learn about RV living. Either as an adventure, temporary housing, or your forever home.

Wednesday, June 23rd

10 am - Buying Rural Land in NH. What should you consider when buying land in New Hampshire? Franz will review some of the important factors and considerations, share his experience when buying his own land in rural New Hampshire last year, and answer audience questions. 

11 am - Relocation: Making the Move! Relocating can be a big project, and Team Porcupine Real Estate is here to help make it easy. We'll talk about what we can do to help you find the best professional in your area to sell your current place, how we can help you find the best property in New Hampshire, and how to coordinate the two so that it goes as smoothly as possible. 

12 pm - Open House Lunch. Stop into the Your Home Hub to ask questions of the agent(s) on duty and use a table for your lunch.

1 pm - Real Estate Home Inspections. When buying a property, what should you look for as far as potential risks and future expenses? Dustin Dodge is an experienced, liberty-friendly home inspector who can share some insight and answer your questions. 

2 pm - Buying Older Homes. New Hampshire has an interesting feature - many of the homes are older. This can be both a great thing if you like history and buying something that was build to last and still standing, but there are also many things you want to watch out for. Our panelists will discuss some of them that might come up if you purchase an older home, and answer questions from the audience. 

3 pm - Tiny Homes and Off-Grid Living. Panelists will discuss their experiences with tiny homes and off-grid living, and answer audience questions. 

4 pm - Straw Bale Homes. Thinking of alternative building methods? Straw bale construction is an interesting and unconventional one. The presenter and his family built their own straw bale home in New England around 15 years ago and has many insights to share, both from research and personal experience. Whatever your interest is, learn about concrete countertops, concrete floors, wood fired boilers, many other details, and bring your questions. 

5 pm - Latitude Info Session. Come and learn about Latitude, a home school co-op. 

6 pm - Anyone bugging out? Anyone? Bug-out (or get-home) bags, kits and gear. From basic survival needs and principles to practice. Plan how you can be better prepared to leave that great porcupine home you just bought in case of an emergency. Or how to get back to it if stranded away from home. 90 minutes.

 

Thursday, June 24th

10 am - Investing in Real Estate. Is real estate in New Hampshire a good investment? If so, what are the best places, and what are the most important things to consider? This panel will address those questions and anything else you might want to know. Our experienced panelists will welcome your questions on finding the right property, choosing the best financing options, and more.  

11 am - Property Management. Thinking of owning a rental? What's it like to manage investment property in New Hampshire? Brittany and our panelists can tell you - she and her husband own a thriving property management company in Manchester, and can give some insight on how to do it yourself and what to consider if you'd like to outsource the work. 

12 pm - First Time Homebuyers. Never owned a home, but you might want to? This is the place to get some info on what to consider. Our panelists will talk about how to choose a property, how to finance it, and answer any questions you might have.

1 pm - North Country Real Estate.

3 pm - Buying Distressed Properties. Everyone is looking for a deal, and there is a lot of money to be made in buying wrecks of houses, fixing them up, and renting or selling them. But, there are are also a lot of risks involved. We'll talk about some of them, and answer questions. 

4 pm - Open House. Stop into the Your Home Hub to ask questions of the agent(s) on duty

5 pm - Meet the (Free State) Parents. What's it like to raise a family in the Free State of New Hampshire? Our parent-panelists will share their experiences!

6 pm - Gaming with New Movers/Experienced Gamers! Game night! Bring your games or play theirs. Hosted by David and Michele who recently moved to New Hampshire from California.

 

Friday, June 25th

10 am - Giving Up Freedom to Move to New Hampshire? Constance Spencer, Associate Broker for Porcupine Real Estate, will discuss why moving from Alaska (a state with less restrictive homeschooling laws, less government taxation, and (whatever else)) was the right move to make and resulted in even more personal liberty. Join Constance and learn about her reason for making the move, how she made it happen, all the ways life went sideways during her early years in New Hampshire, and if she would do it all over again.

11 am - Buying and Selling Homes Using Crypto. Crypto is becoming more mainstream, especially in the real estate world. Mark Warden, Broker/Owner of Porcupine Real Estate, will talk about all the ways crypto is impacting the real estate market and how one can buy and sell a home with crypto. Mark was the first agent in NH to fully conduct a home sale and purchase with crypto.

12 pm - City vs. Town Government. Most places in New Hampshire are towns, not cities, including some of the most populated jurisdictions. What are the differences between these political structures? How does it affect you as a homeowner, resident or parent? We’ll explore this from various perspectives. 

1 pm - Lions, Tigers and Mortgages – Financing Homes. Financing homes can be tricky – New Hampshire has a wide variety of property types, and every buyer’s situation is different. Our panelists will discuss what to watch out for, and how to best position for a successful, smooth transaction.

2 pm - School Districts and Education Options in NH. Our panel represents a learning club (Kathryn “Kitty” Michelotti), a homeschool coop (Emily Smith), NH homeschool and school choice advocate (Michelle Levell), a school board member and school choice advocate (Jody Underwood), and school funding (Ian Underwood). The panel will give brief descriptions of their passions, and then we’ll open it up to questions and audience involvement.

4 pm - Social: Meet the Regions of New Hampshire. Are you thinking about moving the New Hampshire, but have no idea where to start? Come to this event and meet the people that live in each region. They will tell you firsthand why their area is the best and provide you with some resources to make your decision. We will have information about what there is to do, jobs, housing, and property tax rates for each region. Meet and mingle with the people that will be your new neighbors and get to know a little more about New Hampshire and the Porcupines who live here.

7 pm - Party Overflow! by Team Porcupine Real Estate. The tent will be open to attendees to put to highest and best use for this historic Porcfest! Move the tables and dance, or leave them and game. Maybe karaoke will happen. We’ve been too busy helping movers get to New Hampshire to plan a proper party for everyone, so we are leaving it up to you!

 

Saturday, June 26th
